Cost Benefit-Analysis (CBA) has become an essential tool for the economic evaluation of transport projects. Its aim is to compare the social benefits of projects with their opportunity costs.
This website is one of the outputs of the research project Socio-Economic and Financial Evaluation of Transport Projects, whose main objective is to contribute to the development of the methodology on economic evaluation.
Our starting point is a review of existing CBA procedures. We then try to provide a general framework of analysis and develop several extensions on particular topics such as:
(1) demand forecasting;
(2) estimation of producers’ and users’ costs;
(3) measurement of external effects;
(4) institutional design; and
(5) equity and territorial effects.
The project has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Transport, through CEDEX (Centro de Estudios y Experimentación de Obras Públicas). |
